Resume templates - the why and how

You don't have to start from scratch to create an awesome resume. There are heaps of free resume templates available online or as templates in your word processing software.

Your goal is to choose a template that matches the employer and the job.

For many jobs, it's best to play it safe with a simple to read format that clearly outlines how your skills and experience make you the best person for the job. For a creative job, your resume may need to reflect your creativity. For example, you might even want to submit a video resume. Remember, the more research you do on the employer beforehand, the easier it will be to pick a template to suit them.
